New Optometrist Produces Eye-Tricking Artwork

Working with her artist twin sister, a new graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry has produced a painting that could be “enough to drive an eye doctor into psychiatry,” according to a news report of its unveiling at the school last week. The artwork is a three-dimension “reverspective” that tricks the eye into perceiving distant objects as in the foreground and vice versa. “It tricks the mind,” says Sepideh Omidghaemi, who came to this country from Iran with her sister Saeideh 15 years ago. “You think what you’re seeing but it isn’t exactly what you’re seeing.”
