Construction could start in fall 2018.

COLUMBUS, OH – Planning for a $28 million optometry clinic and health sciences faculty office is underway at The Ohio State University.

The facility would include approximately 93,000 square feet and feature a clinic operated by the College of Optometry, as well as an eyewear gallery, retail space, faculty offices and support space, according to a press release.

The university said it will seek initial approvals from its board of trustees for the project. It will request $600,000 toward professional services.

Construction is anticipated for late fall 2018, according to the release.

The facility would be located at 11th and Neil avenues in Columbus. It would prompt the relocation of three businesses: Adriatico’s, a branch of Huntington Bank and the University Flower Shop.

Ohio State said it's working with each business to identify possible relocation opportunities.

The project would be "the first step in potential future work on a broader interdisciplinary health sciences center," according to the university.
