Paul Wilkes spent ten years in advertising before he decided to change careers and go into the eyewear business with his optician dad Stephen. Before setting up shop for Glass Optical in a Dallas suburb, they had only one requirement: It shouldn’t look like a doctor’s office. From the polished concrete floors to the wooden display cases, they have succeeded in creating a retail atmosphere that looks like a high-end jewelry store. “The way we see it, going to the doctor shouldn’t be a run-of-the mill experience,” says Paul.
