Jean Gehrig was the founder of SCL International.

Jean Gehrig, founder of SCL International, a cleaning and hard coating machine manufacturer based in Archamps, France, has died.

He passed away in November at age 79.

“For all who met Jean, they will remember a gentleman, a professional, a real entrepreneur,” according to an obituary released by Satisloh. “He was an electrical engineer who founded two companies before SCL International was formed in 1993, producing dip coating technology.”

Gehrig’s last initiative was joining Essilor and the Satisloh group, “ensuring the future of the success story he built,” according to the obituary. Essilor acquired Satisloh from Schweiter Technologies AG in 2008.

He retired in 2017 and his son Denis assumed leadership of the company.
