ReVision Optics, maker of the Raindrop Near Vision Inlay, is closing its doors.
The company announced the closure on its website. ReVision Optics stated that while it “made great strides to build a market for the surgical correction of presbyopia,” the Raindrop Inlay ceased being sold to ophthalmic practices or distributors as of Jan. 30.
“It has been a privilege to have the opportunity to bring Raindrop Inlay to the presbyopic community and innovative ophthalmic practices,” the Lake Forest, CA-based company said.
The Raindrop Rebate is no longer being honored. To answer questions, the company has established a hotline number, 1-866-934-6592, that will be staffed through April 30.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Raindrop in June 2016. It was described as “the second FDA-approved implantable corneal device for correction of near vision in patients who have not had cataract surgery and the first implantable device that changes the shape of the cornea to achieve improved vision.”
Raindrop is “a clear device made of a hydrogel material and resembles a tiny contact lens smaller than the eye of a needle,” according to the FDA.
