Optometry Cares-The AOA Foundation celebrated a successful end to 2014 thanks to generous donors who support its mission of improving the quality of life of Americans seeking vision care.
One of the contributors, Luxottica Wholesale North America, presented a gift of $50,000 to Optometry Cares that will help provide even more opportunities for people in need to enjoy 2015 with clear and healthy vision.
In addition to its generous end-of-year contribution, Luxottica funded Healthy Eyes Healthy People state association grants in 2014 and 2015. HEHP grants provide funding for implementation of activities that support vision objectives and goals to reduce health disparities. These grants have funded projects that have provided, to name only a few services, comprehensive eye exams for children in need, education about the sight-threatening effects of diabetes for communities at risk, and eye care for uninsured adults.
“Optometry Cares is very thankful for Luxottica’s support and dedication to helping others in need attain eye care,” said T. Joel Byars, O.D., Optometry Cares president. “Countless people do not have access to proper eye care and are in need of corrective lenses or require management of sight-threatening eye disease. Thanks to Luxottica’s contributions, we’ll be able to make an even bigger difference and help people see a better tomorrow.”
