This is the second time he’s been accused of not being a doctor.

Paul Olsovsky, a licensed optometrist at a Walmart vision center who also owns a practice in Portland, OR, has been charged with multiple felonies of practicing medicine without a license after allegedly adding “M.D.” to his name on his business sign and website, The Oregonian reports.

According to the article, these charges come five years after he was sanctioned by the Oregon Board of Optometry for using the word “doctor” on his website. This time Olsovsky is disputing the accusations, saying that "there’s absolutely no basis in fact whatsoever to the charges. Unfortunately, people get ophthalmology and optometry confused all the time. This may be one of those cases.”

His attorney, the article adds, calls the charges “overreaching” and maintains that his client does indeed have the right to use the “M.D.” designation, citing the medical degree Olsovsky holds from Ross University in Dominica, West Indies.
