Before Grey Ant became the oversized sunglass brand that has since earned the affection of Beyonce and other A-listers, it made the transition from its origin as a clothing line, Observer writes. The article explains that the company’s transformation into a sunglass maker started when it was accepted into an incubator program. Founder Grant Krajecki cites his experience in the incubator as one factor that helped turn the brand into what it’s become today. As he told Observer:
“It helped us see up close how our contemporaries ran their businesses, which created an environment where we could openly share our growing pains. Being in the inaugural class, CFDA was doing this for the first time. While working out the kinks of their curriculum and dealing with our personal and sometimes conflicting agendas, the group related projects often became difficult beasts to tame.”
