(PRESS RELEASE) ATLANTA, GA — Optical Training Institute (OTI) announced that its flagship Optician Development Program (ODP) is now available in Spanish, expanding access to high-quality optician education for Spanish-speaking learners. This initiative reflects OTI’s commitment to fostering inclusivity, breaking down language barriers, and ensuring that aspiring opticians can confidently pursue their careers with comprehensive training in their native language.
About the Optician Development Program
The Optician Development Program (ODP) is a comprehensive online work-study training program designed to prepare learners with the knowledge needed for career development, state licensure (approved for apprenticeship credit in: Alaska, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia), and long-term success in the eye care industry.
The program bridges the gap between theory and real-world application, providing engaging multimedia content, study aids, and expert-led instruction to equip learners with the essential skills needed to thrive in the field.
ODP consists of three core courses:
- Boot Camp – Designed to quickly provide a brand-new staff member the foundation to work on an optical floor – or serve as a refresher for experienced opticians.
- Spectacle Course – Focuses on anatomy and physiology, lenses, frames, troubleshooting, refractive errors, and eyewear adjustments.
- Contact Lens Course – Explores contact lens fitting, evaluation, laws and regulations, and patient education.
The flexible, self-paced online format allows learners to study anytime, anywhere while receiving one-on-one personalized support from experienced instructors.
Expanding Access with Spanish-Language Training
With the introduction of a Spanish-language ODP, Spanish-speaking apprentices now have the opportunity to complete their optician training in their preferred language, ensuring greater comprehension, retention, and confidence as they work toward certification and licensure.
