PASSAU/OELDE, GERMANY — Passau-based OWP Brillen GmbH has acquired Dr. Beck GmbH & Co KG and its subsidiary Bexx Brillenmode GmbH & Co KG, which is based in Oelde.

The Beck Group, better known under its brand name Flair, will operate as an independent subsidiary under the leadership of Managing Director Sven Reiß.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

With the acquisition of the Beck Group, OWP is continuing its growth strategy.

The acquisition is “a logical addition,” said Werner Paletschek, managing director of OWP. The development of a premium brand portfolio with a focus on “made in Germany” began in 2015 with the acquisition of op Couture Brillen GmbH and its brand CAZAL, and will now continue with the acquisition of Flair.

“The brands FLAIR and bx. eyewear ideally complement our existing portfolio and increase the attractiveness of Optische Werke Passau (OWP) in the independent eyewear segment,” said Paletschek.

Rainer Beck, former owner of Dr. Eugen Beck GmbH & Co KG, said: “I am pleased to be able to hand over my company to proven hands. Our corporate cultures and product philosophies fit together very well, and this will contribute significantly to our future success.”
