PECAA Launches New Association Health Plan

It will offer multiple medical plans to choose from.

(PRESS RELEASE) PORTLAND, OR – PECAA, a nationwide doctor alliance group currently serving over 3,700 independent eyecare practitioners, announced the launch of its new association health plan to its membership.

Member practices will leverage the buying power of the larger organization to purchase healthcare benefits for their practice doctors, staff and families at competitive rates, regardless of individual practice size.

“The rising cost of healthcare has had a major impact on independent eye care practices in recent years, both in the form of increased costs and the ability to retain key employees,” said Bryan Hoban, member business manager, PECAA. “We are excited about the launch of this plan for our membership, which will allow them to compete for top talent while maintaining profit margins.”

PECAAHP, as the plan is being called, is a private, non-profit, level-funded benefits plan offered through the Aetna network. PECAAHP will offer multiple medical plans to choose from, including PPO and HSA options.

(PRESS RELEASE) CHICAGO – Prevent Blindness, the nation’s oldest non-profit eye health organization, will be holding its fifteenth annual “Eyes on Capitol Hill” advocacy day on Wed., Feb. 26, 2020, in Washington, D.C. The annual program provides those from across the United States the opportunity to meet with Congressional and Senate members, and their staff, to discuss vision issues, including access to care, prevention and research.

Data shows that the number of individuals with visual impairment and blindness is increasing in the United States and around the globe as a result of shifting demographics and aging populations. According to the Prevent Blindness report, “Children’s Vision And Eye Health: A Snapshot of Current National Issues,” uncorrected vision problems can impair child development, interfere with learning, and even lead to permanent vision loss.

The company becomes part of a select group of leaders including Allergan, Bayer, Novartis and Standard Chartered Bank that supports IAPB at the highest level to help achieve universal access to eye health.
