Plan a Separation and More Manager’s to Dos for July

Jul. 3-9

MARKETING Prepare a press release/blog listing the 10 things all parents should look for in eyewear for young children… and don’t forget to share it in your newsletter and socials.

MANAGEMENT Your practice will only be valuable to a potential buyer if it can run successfully without you. Schedule a few days this month to step back and think strategically about how to extract yourself from day-to-day supervision.

Jul. 10-16

SERVICE It’s hot out there. Welcome customers into your store with a cool washcloth and a glass of lemonade.

INSURANCE Evaluate the vision care plans you currently accept based on return on effort and make a commitment to drop the lowest and most time-consuming. Repeat the process every summer.

SEARCH Starting in July, make it a point to visit your Google My Business page every month to ensure all the information is correct and to add photos (action shots like your lab tech at his edger). Having a fully optimized page will help your business land near the top of the heap of competitors in local search.

Jul. 17-23

REMODEL Pick a small remodeling job or maybe a not-so-small one. Paint the optical, or spruce up the reception area, change out the fluorescent light kits for a more modern lighting solution.

STAFF Business can wind down in the summer months, which can be a perfect time for a field trip to your favorite local lab. Work with their manager to coordinate a tour, Q&A, and maybe a surprise stop for ice cream on the way back!

Jul. 24-30

ORDERS Go through any orders that haven’t been picked up. And then the day before payday, call the owners and suggest they come and pick up the piece (while they’ve still got the cash to pay the balance.)

PLANNING What’s the best month to try to change your life, personal or professional? It’s just ahead of us, in August. Unlike the stressful New Year period, in August the kids are back at school, people have returned from vacation and it’s easy to establish a routine that supports your new goals.
