(PRESS RELEASE) ALEXANDRIA, VA — ReopenEyecare.com, the recently launched digital platform designed to help eyecare providers navigate the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on their businesses, announced the establishment of an official advisory board. Made up of eyecare providers and vision community leaders, the advisory board will provide expert insight and feedback to the ReopenEyecare.com board of directors with the intention of improving the functionality of the website as a resource for eyecare providers navigating the complex journey from shutdown or essential services only back to ‘new normal’ business conditions.
“Our goal is to make sure ReopenEyecare.com has the vital information, resources, and tools that optometrists, ophthalmologists and opticians need for the long-term recovery of their practices,” said Dr. Justin Manning, executive vice president for professional strategies at Healthy Eyes Advantage Inc. and the leading member of the advisory board. “As business conditions continue to evolve, with states continuing to lift restrictions and more practices opening across the country, we know that eyecare providers will need certain tools at certain times, and that their needs will continue to change. As an advisory board made up of eyecare providers, with experience across opticianry and ophthalmology ourselves, we intend to make sure that ReopenEyecare.com has the right resources in place at the right time, and that they are easy-to-find and easy-to-use. We will gather ‘on-the-ground’ feedback from colleagues, peers, and our own experiences, and directly implement the content that is needed.”
Led by Justin Manning, OD, MPH, FAAO, the advisory board includes:
- Dibby Bartlett, ABOC, NCLEC – chief operating officer at Todd Rogers Eyewear and president of Opticians Association of America
- Katie Greiner, OD, MS, MBA, FAAO – chief operating officer at Northeast Ohio Eye Surgeons
- Jeff Jones, MD – owner of Visionaire Eye Consultants
- Adam Ramsey, OD – owner of Socialite Vision
- Phernell Walker, MBA, ABOM – director of optometric relations at VSP Ventures
Following the launch of the website last month, the advisory board has conducted an initial review of ReopenEyecare.com and provided feedback on ways to improve the website, including what existing content is most valuable, and what topics require further development. In the coming weeks, the advisory board will work closely with the task force of vision community leaders who curated content for the website, meeting on a weekly basis to provide verbal feedback and discuss ways to improve existing content. Additionally, the advisory board will support content curation by the ReopenEyecare.com board of directors by evaluating items considered for future content if requested. The advisory board is also charged with recommending articles or content that would be beneficial to post to the ReopenEyecare.com website. Advisory board members may also submit original content for the website.
Featuring content curated by a task force of vision community leaders and sponsored by The Vision Council, ReopenEyecare.com is intended to serve as a comprehensive resource to help eyecare providers navigate the complex journey from shutdown back to ‘new normal’ business conditions with practical insights and a collection of best practices, protocols, tools and tips for reopening a practice and maintaining its health until conditions improve.
Reopeneyecare.com and the resources included on the website are available for use and distribution by anyone involved in the vision community. Users should register on the website to receive updates as new content is posted.
