(PRESS RELEASE) SAN RAFAEL, CA — RestoringVision, the largest nonprofit provider of new reading glasses to people living in impoverished communities around the world, is seeking to help 50,000 people see clearly again by raising $50,000 on Giving Tuesday.
Each year, RestoringVision works to turn Giving Tuesday into Giving Sight Day by bringing together like-minded people and companies to create access to glasses for people in need around the world. This year, RestoringVision’s Giving Sight Day theme is “Vision Brings Us Together.” The optical nonprofit is urging everyone across the optical industry to come together and help the most vulnerable populations access the glasses they need to see clearly and stay safe and productive.
Giving Tuesday refers to the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
“As the COVID-19 crisis keeps compounding issues for those without clear vision, turning Giving Tuesday into Giving Sight Day is more important than ever before,” said Pelin Munis, executive director. “RestoringVision’s work not only continues, but the demand for our glasses has increased due to the devastating impact of the pandemic on disenfranchised populations around the world. Our commitment to bringing them clear vision has never been stronger.”
Every dollar donated to RestoringVision’s Giving Sight Day campaign will bring a pair of reading glasses to a person in need. Thanks to matching gift sponsor 20/20 Quest, a National Vision sponsored charitable foundation, the first $20,000 raised will be doubled, making twice the impact.
