With the creation of the first Eyewear Product School, Safilo recognizes its great responsibility to pass on to future generations this precious heritage, while modernizing it for future sustainability.
The school will start in mid-September for the school year 2015/2016, with a three-year theory and practice program, covering all aspects of the eyewear world that offers various interpretative codes and multiple points of reference.
The goal is to give young apprentices, who are just beginning their professional career, the opportunity and the necessary support to acquire systemically fundamental experience in all Eyewear Product areas, from design to development, from prototyping to production, the accurate knowledge of materials, quality control, up to pricing and concept selling.
Safilo’s worldwide organizations will welcome the apprentices during their training years, this will enable young apprentices to then continue their career path growing within the company. The School’s three-year program is based on the best practices of international apprenticeship that combine learning on-the-job and job rotation, engagement opportunities with leading experts from the eyewear industry, coaching led by Safilo’s diverse internationally qualified management, and regular classroom training.
Safilo Group is looking for motivated young people to embark on a three-year course to become Eyewear Masters of Craft, placed in a unique environment such as Safilo’s.
Requirements are a secondary education diploma (with a preference for technical, arts and design schools), aptitude for technical drawing, a basic knowledge of chemistry and materials, and a good knowledge of English and relevant computer applications.
