Registration is now open for Optometry’s Meeting 2014, which runs June 25-29, a day longer than usual. This extra day will allow guests to better take advantage of all the meeting has to offer, say sponsors. Another first is the meeting’s location, which this year is Philadelphia, Pa., at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
The much-anticipated Opening General Session, sponsored by Essilor, will occur June 25 at 5:00 p.m., featuring keynote speaker Scott Hamilton, an Olympic gold-medalist figure skater and inductee in both the U.S. Olympics and World Figure Skating Halls of Fame.
Optometry’s Meeting will include more than 220 hours of continuing education featuring new speakers and interactive sessions, more than 200 innovative companies exhibiting the latest in eye and vision care, and multiple new opportunities to network with industry colleagues.
Optometry’s Meeting will have an inclusive fee structure, which was introduced last year. One price includes education, admittance to the Exhibit Hall and events such as the Opening General Session, Varilux Optometry Student Bowl, and the Celebration of Optometry.
In addition to the swearing-in of incoming President David A. Cockrell, O.D., at the House of Delegates, attendees can enjoy “A Celebration of Optometry” (Presidential Celebration) on Saturday night, recognizing the American Optometric Association (AOA) and American Optometric Student Association (AOSA) Board of Trustees, sponsored by HOYA.
