SECO International Names 2020 President

Dr. J. Max Ernst, OD

(PRESS RELEASE) ATLANTA, GA — SECO International, an educational conference providing optometrists and ophthalmic professionals with learning opportunities since 1923, announces that Dr. J. Max Ernst, OD, will become its next president.

Ernst will officially accept the honor during the House of Delegates meeting, held during SECO 2019, on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 3:15 p.m.  to 5:00 p.m. at the New Orleans Theater at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

Ernst began his studies at the University of Michigan, obtaining his BS in Biology in 1981. He was awarded the Doctor of Optometry degree after attending the University of Houston College of Optometry from 1982 to 1986.

Ernst has been practicing in Kentucky for 33 years, running a successful business with the support of his wife, Carol, and their two daughters. Ernst served as president of Kentucky Optometric Association in 1997 and 1998 and was the Kentucky Optometric Association OD of the Year in 1999.

(PRESS RELEASE) CORAL SPRINGS, FL – ABB Optical Group, released market data from its Digital Eye Lab (DEL) Network division showing significant year-over-year growth in the sale of prescription sun lenses.

DEL Network’s data shows that orders were up 25 percent in 2018 over 2017. In breaking down all orders placed in 2018, the data also showed a year-over-year increase of 30 percent for mirrored lenses, 30 percent for photochromic lenses, and 20 percent for polarized lenses.

Just in time for National Sunglasses Day on June 27, DEL Network also identified silver, blue and gold, respectively, as the three most popular colors ordered in polarized mirrored lenses.

“Since 2017, our portfolio of Digital Mirror Solutions has allowed ECPs to expand their lens offerings to meet the growing patient demand for this trending, colorful look,” said DEL Network Managing Director Scott Pearl. “With the kick-off of summer right around the corner, now is an opportune time for ECPs to be discussing the importance of sun wear with their patients and offering them a variety of sun wear to meet their needs, lifestyles and budgets.”
