The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) announced the winners of the World Sight Day 2022 Photo Competition. An independent panel of seven judges from around the world selected this year’s winners from 960 images submitted from more than 60 countries.
The judges chose Eye Screening at Jukwa, Ghana by Kwame Yeboah for Professional Photo of the Year and Refraction by Laite Tuiloma for Amateur Photo of the Year. Eight other photographs were selected as finalists.
“Each image had substance either creatively or through the story they told, evoking emotion in the viewer and capturing our attention,” says Julie-Anne Davies, a professional photographer and World Sight Day 2021 Photo Competition winner, of this year’s finalists.
The judges were: Caroline Casey, Found and Creator, The Valuable 500 & IAPB President, David Katz, Internationally Acclaimed Photojournalist & Founder the David Katz Foundation, Dean Saffron, World-Renowned Photojournalist, Dr Princess Ifeoma Ike, IAPB Eye Health Hero, Imraan Gallo, Visually Impaired Photographer & Advocate for Artists with Disabilities, Julie-Anne Davies, Professional Photographer & World Sight Day 2021 Photo Competition Winner, Marge Axelrad, Senior Vice President & Editorial Director, Vision Monday and VMail.
