Kwame Yeboah: “I love the smiles and interest of the children and adults. This image captures the excitement and willingness of the community members to get their eyes examined.

“The picture is taken from the room of a mud house in which the consultant and eye exam is to be done.

“The subject was very much excited. He helped with community engagement and encouraged most of the community members to have their eyes examined.”

Laite Tuiloma: “This was tken in Ebeye on Kwajalein atoll – Marshall Islands. Space is a big barrier here and we don’t have an actual eye clinic. I operate in what once was an eye clinic, which has been closed since 2016, and is now a storage space for COVID supplies. The client I’m serving is our dentist. Like many health workers on Ebeye, (he does) not get the privileges to have access or order glasses.

“He is very happy because he needed custom made spectacles, and as a dentist with limited vision, he was able to be better with glasses.”

Muhammad Amdad Hossain: “Many people in the coastal region of Bangladesh have lost their homes and properties and become homeless due to frequent floods, river erosion and other natural disasters. They are forced to migrate to cities in search of a better future. These people have no shelter in big cities. Their day begins on a boat, on a dirt road, and ends on a road to nowhere.”

Md Harun Or Rashid: “Her name is Sadia. She lives in a coastal area in Satkhira, Bangladesh. River (flooding) took away her land, home and everything. Now she is a climate refuge.”
