SHINE A LIGHT ON UV IMPACT

Many Americans still aren’t seeing the light on vision damage that can be caused by UV exposure, according to The Vision Council’s 2014 Sun Protection Survey. Nearly half (46 percent) of adults say that they wear sunglasses only when it’s sunny outside, even though UV rays are present on cloudy days. Only 27 percent of sunglasses users store their eyewear in a case; most toss their shades into handbags or on car consoles, where they are susceptible to scratches, scrapes and warping that can hamper UV protection.
