Definitely something for everyone
in 2015 sunglass collections for men

Your male customers have nothing to worry about. Spring/summer 2015’s vast selection ensures that somewhere out there, there’s the perfect pair of sunglasses for every man. In shapes for the coming season, men can choose from elegant pantos, modified aviators, easy-to-wear wraparounds and more. Last summer’s mirrored lenses still burn hot, but in vibrant new color themes. And patterns range from wood-grain to camouflage, with even a denim effect thrown in for a little laid-back fun. With so much that’s new, do the classics still rate? Of course! Subtler shades of blue and gray and classic tortoiseshell will continue to rank among next year’s favorites. And technological upgrades help lift the upcoming season’s sunwear to new highs of style, function and comfort. — C L O D A G H    N O R T O N

DESIGNER INSIGHTS

Henrik Orgreen designer interview photo

Henrik Ørgreen

Founder, Ørgreen

What are the 2015 trends in sunwear for men?

We do what we like and feel. This makes the mission much more complicated. The design and color solutions that look simple and work are seldom the easiest to create. The challenge is to be seasonal — and timeless — while being totally of the moment. A strong opinion and a well-developed gut feeling are priceless when doing this.

Are things moving toward adventurous or classic?

I would say it is a combination. You see a lot of brands trying to be retro, but we see this retro wave fading away. At Ørgreen, we play with new interpretations. Using techniques, material, shapes and certainly colors, we achieve a modern retro look. So I would say less adventurous, as men very often prefer something more settled, but that is not retro all over again!

How do Ørgreen designers work with color for men?

We like to study some of the subcultures where masculinity and color play a big role, especially custom cars and motorcycles and their distinctive paint tones and use of color. Overall it is my understanding that men want colors that are easy to understand. It is a balance of giving people what they did not know they wanted, together with something they know and feel comfortable with. I like it when men dare to wear hues they consider more usually as female colors. I like the scent of a free spirit and nonconformist.
