(PRESS RELEASE) ROCHESTER, N.Y. — CooperVision and the American Optometric Association (AOA) are accelerating the fight against childhood myopia through the continued expansion of The Myopia Collective, a nationwide initiative empowering optometrists to spearhead the movement in myopia management. One year after launching its inaugural class of Change Agents—dedicated eye care professionals driving awareness and action in their communities—the program is gaining even more ground with new leaders joining from Wisconsin, Maryland, and Montana.
“The transformation we’ve seen in just one year is nothing short of inspiring,” said Michele Andrews, OD, Vice President, Marketing and Professional Affairs, Americas, CooperVision. “These optometrists aren’t just raising awareness, they’re reshaping how communities respond to childhood myopia. Their passion and leadership are fueling a movement, and we’re just getting started.”
With the newest Change Agents, more than 70 optometrists nationwide are now leading the charge in transforming how myopia is understood and managed. These eye care professionals are the driving force behind The Myopia Collective’s mission to shift the standard of care from simply correcting vision to delivering proactive, comprehensive treatment that slows the progression of myopia.
But the movement doesn’t stop here. The Myopia Collective welcomes all members of the optometric community, regardless of role or credential, to join as Members. By participating, they signal a shared commitment to advancing myopia care, while gaining access to exclusive education, tools, and resources that empower them to make a lasting impact in their practices and communities.
“Being part of The Myopia Collective has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,” said Jennifer Stewart, OD, Change Agent from Connecticut. “It’s empowering to collaborate with a nationwide network of optometrists who share a deep commitment to making myopia management the standard of care. I’m excited to welcome our newest Change Agents and continue building momentum together, because the future of children’s vision depends on it.”
