(Press Release) The Vision Council has announced a new Young Leaders initiative – launching at its annual Executive Summit – to identify and develop the next generation of optical industry leaders.

The program hopes to give exposure to young leaders within the optical industry, aiming to excite and motivate greater engagement in the broad topics of the industry and encourage participation as members of The Vision Council’s committees and taskforces.

The Vision Council will subsidize the full registration fee (a value of almost $1,200) for the first 25 qualified candidates. Travel, lodging, and any additional costs will be the responsibility of the individual or their respective company.

The Executive Summit brings together more than 350 of the top executives from companies on the supply side of the optical industry. The gathering, taking place January 27-29, 2016, will be held at the Waldorf Astoria in Orlando, Florida.

“More involved young leaders will help to keep the association and the industry relevant and progressive. We recognize the power of tapping into new ideas and engaging young people early-on who are passionate about our industry,” said Mike Hundert, Executive Summit Program Committee Chairman.

“We’re thrilled to be able to provide an opportunity for young leaders to gather at our Executive Summit, where they can associate with their peers and be surrounded by some of the best and brightest veterans in our industry.”

Eligibility is based on criteria to serve on the Board of Directors as outlined in The Vision Council bylaws.

There are a limited number of opportunities available, and candidates who meet the above criteria will be accepted on a first-come basis. Nominators should consider who within their organization is worthy of this scholarship and have them register as soon as possible using the code ESYPO. Only one candidate per member company will be eligible.

The Vision Council’s annual Executive Summit is a powerful resource designed to keep attendees aware of the industry landscape and help organizations chart a course for the future. Attendees will network with their peers and join leaders in business, research, and economics as they engage in important conversations about the direction of the industry.

The Executive Summit Program Committee recently made public that the opening keynote for the 2016 Executive Summit will be Jim Collins, who has authored or co-authored six books that have sold in total more than ten million copies worldwide including Good to Great, the #1 bestseller, which examines why some companies and leaders make the leap to superior results.
