Sarah Bureau once trained to be an opera singer but fell in love with her “back up” plan: opticianry. She’s carved out a business restoring and customizing eyewear for accounts across North America. Because of her unique niche she has some fun favorite — and least favorite — responsibilities. “I have full control over how much time and love I put into a project. Sometimes I invest more than is economically viable, but my love for restoration wins because I’m the boss! Being completely immersed restoring and customizing eyewear is the best way to spend a workday.” On the flip side, as a solopreneur, “If I don’t do it, it doesn’t get done! And it can be tricky to stop working and just chill.” Luckily, she’s got some folks to help. “I have an amazing husband and two wonderful girls. My favorite ways to wind down are delicious family meals made by my talented husband, family movie nights, cheering on my girls’ soccer and swimming, and spending as much time camping and hiking in our renovated 1976 Trillium Trailer as we can!”
