(PRESS RELEASE) PINELLAS PARK, FL — Transitions Optical has developed a presentation template for industry professionals to educate students about a career in the optical industry. The presentation was created in collaboration with the Transitions Diversity Advisory Board to help inspire and foster a more diverse pipeline of future optical industry professionals.
The customizable template is geared towards middle school students and includes sections for the speaker to introduce themselves, educate on different careers in the optical industry, provide healthy vision tips, and interact with students through an optical illusion activity. Though the presentation may be used throughout the year, Transitions Optical is encouraging eyecare professionals to coordinate a visit with their local schools during American Education Week. American Education Week, which is held annually the week before Thanksgiving, celebrates the public-school community across the country and honors those who work in our nation’s public schools. This year’s event will take place from November 13 through November 19, 2022.
“I have personally seen the impact of a career presentation through my own visits to local schools, and I believe this effort can spark an interest in an optical career,” said Arlene Segovia, marketing manager, trade communications, Transitions Optical. “When a student can see a professional that is a reflection of themselves and their culture, it becomes aspirational…and attainable.”
