It’s been ‘fast-tracked.’
Studies are underway at High Point University in North Carolina for programs in optometry, nursing and occupational therapy.
High Point University in North Carolina is looking at adding an optometry program.
It’s one of three programs the school has “fast-tracked” for consideration, according to a press release. The other two are nursing and occupational therapy.
High Point University “is considering programs that strategically align with the successful launch of the Congdon School of Health Sciences, which offers a doctoral physical therapy degree, a physician assistant master’s degree and an athletic training master’s degree, and the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy, which offers a doctoral pharmacy degree,” according to the release.

Nido Qubein, president of the university, said the health sciences and pharmacy programs “have exceeded our strategic and visionary goals, allowing us to accelerate new program development sooner than expected.”
“We are grateful to be in this position and take our responsibility to build meaningful academic programs that enhance our world,” he said.
The university, located in the city of High Point, expects to finalize new program timelines by August 2018.
