The coolest stuff comes to light on the popular Opticians on Facebook group.

The other day, someone shared a video clip about eyeglass fashions of the 1950s — and if you like vintage looks, you’ll find it fascinating.

The short video shows an optician matching frames to women based on their face shapes, coloring and accessories.

“Apart from protecting and assisting eyesight, opticians are not content to make frames that blend,” the narrator explains in the 1955 video from British Pathé. “Their aim is to beautify some of the 11 million women who wear glasses.”

Sound familiar? It seems that the optician of decades ago were pretty similar to the professionals of today.

It sure would be fun to work with some of the frames they had back then, though.
