That’s a WRAP! INVISION hit the Big Apple to support the March 2022 issue, visit with friends new and old, and revel in the fact that in a small way things felt like they were getting back to normal. Vision Expo East 2022 was held at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City from April 1-3 and thanks to New York dropping its mask and vaccine mandates weeks before the event attendees were free to mix and mingle in a manner reminiscent of pre-pandemic trade shows. Here is our quick recap.

All red everything! INVISION’s booth welcomed attendees to “Eat. Sleep. ECP. Repeat.” with branded cleaning cloths and copies of our March issue, as well as the opportunity to sign up for a free subscription or our daily newsletter.

Always be learning! On Friday morning at The Bridge, as part of the EYE2EYE Series, Dr. Khizer Khaderi, MD, and Dr. Masoud Nafey, OD, presented “Why the Metaverse Was Made for The Vision Industry” to discuss the Metaverse, Web 3.0 and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and how eyecare, eyewear and optical are already in it.

There was even a puppy party! Puppies make people happy and happy people buy more … including puppies! Not only did these furry friends reduce stress and increase serotonin, they were adoptable!

Friday night’s festivities started at the OWA Networking event where editor-in-chief Dee caught up with columnist and Spexy co-founder Kayla Ashlee.

That night TechifEYE hosted a party at Beer Authority for all its partner companies and their customers.

The lower level of Javits was “well equipped” with all the equipment companies back home on their own floor.

On Saturday, the EYE2EYE Series education came by way of Duane Baker, entrpreneaur and co-founder of Coco & Breezy, and serial entrepreneur and founder of Skyton Crypto Universtiy,  Steve Bayonne, discussed “Cryptocurrency and the Metaverse and How It Is Changing the Future” of the internet and customer experience.

Saturday afternoon, INVISION’s Dee Carroll hosted a photo booth and had a lovely visit with the #EyeStyleInfluencers of Instagram: (L-R) Dr. Jen Wademan (@drjenwademan), Sheena Taft (@optician.about.town), Dayle Carmelle (@dayley_dose), Dr. Jenn Chinn (@dr.chinnchinn), and Jennifer Centeno (@Opticianista_LA).
