The VSP Global board of directors has named Daniel L. Mannen, O.D., F.A.A.O., as chairman of the board for a two-year term. Dr. Mannen is the first-ever returning chairman, having served a two-year term previously during 2006-2008.
Dr. Mannen has been in private professional practice in Oregon for 30 years. He has been affiliated with VSP Global for 20 years and first joined the board of directors in 1997.
“We are pleased to have Dan lead the VSP Global board of directors,” says outgoing board chairman, Randy Lee, O.D. “As VSP Global companies continue to develop programs, including the Premier program, Dan will help ensure that the direction includes consideration of both member preferences and professional optometry.”
"As a practicing independent doctor of optometry, I look forward to helping direct and support the efforts of VSP Global that will both strengthen and move our profession forward,” says Dr. Mannen. “In my view, it is all about creating patient care opportunities."
Originally from eastern Oregon, Dr. Mannen received his degree in optometry with high honors from the Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, OR. He began his career at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA. Dr. Mannen has served as president of the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
