“Scott has over 20 years of legal expertise in various industries, including healthcare,” said Guyette. “His experience in building high-performing teams and achieving results in a rapidly changing business environment will be invaluable as we continue to drive towards our strategic goals and best serve our stakeholders.”

Nehs joins VSP from Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, where he served as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, providing counsel on a range of strategic, reputational, and operational issues for the “Blue” System, which provides health insurance to 118 million Americans. Prior to that, he served in a variety of senior leadership roles at PepsiCo, including senior vice president of legal and government affairs, as well as vice president and chief compliance officer. Nehs earned his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University.

“Joining such a mission-driven organization is a great honor,” said Nehs. “I look forward to working alongside my talented colleagues at VSP to deliver on our purpose and to support our unique business model, which is designed to serve stakeholders, not shareholders.”

Nehs succeeds Chris Warren, who retired after serving as chief legal officer and general counsel since 2021.
