Plans call for hiring 128 people.
Warby Parker has opened its new optical lab in Rockland County, NY, according to Sloatsburg Village.
Plans for the 34,000-square-foot lab were announced in June. The facility is outfitted for the assembly of glasses and the finishing of prescription lenses.
The official opening was on Jan. 11, according to the Sloatsburg Village article.
Warby Parker recently had been recruiting employees, including some from a job fair at Rockland Community College.

“The optical lab is an important domestic move by WP that steers it closer to possibly manufacturing its own frames some day right here in the USA,” according to the article.
Warby Parker has pledged to create 128 jobs over the next five years at the lab as part of a tax incentive package. Also as part of the agreement, Warby Parker planned to invest more than $15 million to construct and outfit the factory.
Sloatsburg Village quoted Warby Parker co-CEO Dave Gilboa saying, “Opening our first optical lab represents a significant milestone for both our customers and our team.”
