(PRESS RELEASE) HEBRON,KY — ZEISS Vision Care, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of eyeglass lenses and ophthalmic instruments, announced today that the company is donating eyeglass lenses free of charge to the victims of the recent Texas floods. By working in partnership with local eye care professionals, this effort is intended to help those in Texas who may have lost their eyewear and need a quick solution to sustain their eyesight.
ZEISS’ work in Texas is the latest in the company’s efforts to provide support to communities in crisis. Earlier this year, ZEISS donated eyeglass lenses to victims of the Los Angeles County wildfires via a collaboration with local Eye Care Professionals helping those affected regain access to essential vision care during a challenging time. This was in addition to a $100,000 donation the company made to the American Red Cross to support emergency relief efforts.
ZEISS’ foundation-owned roots made the company an early global pioneer of corporate social responsibility (CSR). A key element of ZEISS’ corporate fabric is to create value for society through the promotion of education, as well as through social projects and a purposeful commitment to people and regions worldwide. Disaster relief is one of many ways ZEISS demonstrates its responsibility toward society and plays a role in improving the lives of people who find themselves in emergency situations.
