(PRESS RELEASE) NORWALK CT — Following a six-month candidate search, IDOC has announced the addition of three new members to its Board of Directors. The privately-held IDOC alliance will welcome Dr. Janelle Davison, Dr. Katie Greiner and Dr. Ansel Johnson to the 8 member board effective January 15.

“We are excited to expand the Board with the addition of independent ODs who have proven themselves to be forward thinkers and industry leaders,” said Dave Brown, president & CEO, IDOC. “I am confident that these three professionals will help us succeed with our long-term strategic plan, including the launch of innovative services that empower independent owners to live the practice of their dreams.”

A native of Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Janelle Davison is the founder and CEO of Brilliant Eyes Vision Center in Smyrna, Georgia, and has been featured on the cover of Women in Optometry Magazine. She received the Xavier University of Louisiana 40 Under 40 Award in 2018 and the 2019 National Coalition of 100 Black Women: Women of Impact Award for Health. Dr. Davison also serves as a CTAE Healthcare Board Advisor for Cobb County Schools, and is a regular contributor to national industry events, health panels and online forums. “IDOC has a distinguished history of helping independent ODs succeed; now with their exciting strategic plan ready to do even more for optometrists, I am thrilled and honored to empower the dreams of my colleagues.”

Dr. Katie Greiner is an optometrist and chief executive Officer at Northeast Ohio Eye Surgeons, committed to providing whole-family eyecare with a special interest in specialty contact lenses. The Ohio State University’s School of Optometry’s 2009 Graduate of the Year, Dr. Greiner has held multiple positions within her state organization, sits on the fellowship interview committee for the American Academy of Optometry, and is a frequent lecturer on the topics of contact lenses and eye surgery/co-management. She was awarded the Young Optometrist of the Year Award in the state of Ohio in 2014. Dr. Greiner also recently completed her MBA in healthcare administration. Said Dr. Greiner, “I am so passionate about independent optometry and the move towards more medical care. I welcome the opportunity to help IDOC meet the needs of my fellow ODs.”

Dr. Ansel Johnson is the clinical director for Vision Salon Eyecare Associates in Blue Island, Illinois. He received his degree from the New England School of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts and completed a post-graduate certificate at the Wharton School of Business. Dr. Johnson has been honored by the White House and the Head Start Association and is currently an adjunct professor at Midwestern University Chicago College of Optometry and The University of Alabama School of Optometry. He has been in private practice since 1990 and is known for, among many talents, his passion for medical optometry and diabetes care. His office is one of only two optometric practices in the country with a ADCES nationally certified diabetes education program. Said Dr. Johnson: “I have gotten to know the leadership team at IDOC through our partnership with UECP. I am confident in the direction of IDOC and look forward to lending my expertise to the future success.”

“The eyecare industry continues to evolve in exciting and unprecedented ways,” said Oliver Spandow, EVP & CFO, IDOC. “Having these three outstanding ODs as part of the IDOC community will help us continue our work as a valuable resource to the independent OD community far into the future.”
