John Weiss & Son to Integrate Into Sister-Company, Haag-Streit UK

(PRESS RELEASE) After 230 years, naturally, John Weiss will remain an established product brand; however, it will cease to be an incorporated legal entity, so John Weiss & Son will cease to trade on 31st December 2021.

HS-UK will become the exclusive UK Distributor of the John Weiss range of gold-standard ophthalmic micro-surgical instruments and procedures & implants. It will also take over the sole UK Distributor agreements for the; Haag-Streit Surgical microscope range, the Haag-Streit Simulation medical simulator portfolio, the Nova Eye iTrack canaloplasty microcatheter and the Meridian 810 shortpulse laser.

In addition, HS-UK will be appointed UK Distributor status for the portfolio of ‘Trusted Brands’, which includes; FEATHER ophthalmic scalpels, blades and holders, KERARING corneal ring segments, MedOne vitreoretinal cannulae, Tecfen corneal trephine blades and tissue punches, HEINE primary diagnostic instruments, Lacrivera punctal inclusion systems, SPIGGLE & THEIS lid implants, InstruSafe custom surgical trays, MORCHER implants and ACROfine single-use instruments.

Any existing service contracts, originally purchased from John Weiss & Son, will be fulfilled by the HS-UK Service Division (for the full duration of the contract). Any future contracts, or renewals, will automatically be provided by the HS-UK Service Division.

This reorganisation will be seamless, there is no planned change concerning continuity of the supply of products into the UK market, or to our World-wide network of Distributors. There will be no variation to the current HS-UK and John Weiss operational and staffing structure post-integration, so Distributors, customers and suppliers will continue to deal with the same point of contact(s).

Dean Johnson, CEO of John Weiss & Son and HS-UK commented, “I see this as extremely positive, with the formation of 2 ophthalmic divisions, Diagnostic and Surgical. This will give HS-UK the opportunity to provide a ‘one-stop-shop’ to ophthalmic professionals, enabling us to build on the John Weiss legacy, and its excellent reputation within the surgical industry”.
