Bausch + Lomb Introduces PreserVision AREDS 2 Formula + Multivitamin

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Bausch + Lomb, a global eye health company, has announced the introduction of PreserVision AREDS 2 Formula + Multivitamin.

PreserVision combines the AREDS2 study formula with other essential vitamins and minerals typically found in daily multivitamins. The two-in-one formula aims to make it simpler for consumers to take their supplements by reducing the number of pills taken each day.

“We are proud to offer consumers greater convenience by providing one supplement that includes the benefits of a daily multivitamin, with the added benefit of the National Eye Institute (NEI) recommended formula from the AREDS2 study found in PreserVision AREDS 2 Formula,” says Joe Gordon, general manager, Valeant Consumer Healthcare. “We hope that PreserVision AREDS 2 Formula + Multivitamin makes it easier for people to add PreserVision, as recommended by their eye care professional, to their current regimen of supplements that often includes a daily multivitamin.”

New PreserVision AREDS 2 Formula + Multivitamin is beta carotene-free and contains a high level of Vitamin D to support the needs of older adults. The product was created in response to consumer feedback and data, which showed that 90 percent of the participants in the AREDS2 clinical study who took an AREDS supplement also took a daily multivitamin. In addition, as people age the use of multivitamin supplements increases, with regular use climbing higher than 50 percent after age 50 and continuing upward to encompass a solid majority of seniors over age 65.2.

PreserVision is based on two major clinical studies known as AREDS and AREDS2. The NEI recommends people with moderate to advanced age-related macular degeneration (AMD) take a supplement with a specific combination of antioxidants and zinc based on the AREDS2 study.

PreserVision AREDS 2 Formula + Multivitamin is now available in major retailers, including Walgreens, Rite Aid, Kroger and Amazon.
