Community Members Receive Free Eye Exams and Glasses at the Second Annual Community Event Connected With Transitions Academy

(PRESS RELEASE) Orlando, FL – The palm trees rustling, faces of neighbors and words on street signs were seen with clarity, some for the first time, by under resourced community members in Orlando after receiving free eye exams and glasses at a local vision clinic.

The clinic was organized by the North America affiliate of the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, the leading global vision care foundation, and its partner Transitions.

The vision clinic was held at Maxwell Garden Apartments and helped address the unresolved vision problems of 83 local Pathlight HOME clients who may have otherwise lacked access to eye exams and glasses.

The clinic leveraged the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation’s proven clinic model and manufacturing capabilities, enabling most participants in need of glasses to receive their newly prescribed, quality eyewear on-site. A team of Foundation and Transitions personnel, Transitions Optical’s Diversity Advisory Board (members represent expertise in the largest and fastest-growing minority groups in the U.S.), and local Pathlight HOME volunteers staffed the clinic.

Transitions aspires to help provide access to quality vision care. Last year, along with Transitions Optical’s Diversity Advisory Board, the brand was fortunate to see the impact of comprehensive eye exams in Orlando and wanted to extend that opportunity again.

“Seeing and realizing possibilities is at the core of what we do at Transitions,” said Jérôme Butez, Global VP of Marketing, Transitions. “By seeing possibilities in others and helping wherever we can, we can create together a more generous and inclusive society where everyone can elevate him and herself. We were honored and proud to support with our best-in-class vision care capabilities the men and women of the Pathlight HOME community who are looking to transition into a new life full of possibilities.”

“Good vision has the power to help us learn better, keep us safe and promote a more inclusive society,” said Becky Palm, executive director, OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation North America. “It’s our privilege to partner with Transitions to ensure that underserved patients in the Orlando area are able to access the eye exams and glasses they need.”
