CooperVision Expands NY Facilities

ROCHESTER, NY — CooperVision has begun construction on the expansion and renovation of its manufacturing, packaging and distribution facilities in Scottsville and West Henrietta, NY.

Each year, these facilities produce, process and ship nearly 1 billion contact lenses to customers around the world, according to a press release.

At the packaging and distribution center in West Henrietta, the 150,000-square-foot expansion increases the facility’s footprint by more than 50 percent and adds upgraded technologies for packaging, storage and order picking, as well as an updated warehouse management system. At the manufacturing facility in Scottsville, a 5,500-square-foot expansion and investments in technology will accommodate growth in product manufacturing capacity. This will resulting in shorter order fulfillment times for products including made-to-order lenses such as Biofinity toric multifocal and Biofinity XR toric, according to the release.

“As we develop new products and expand the available parameters of existing ones, our operations for manufacturing, packaging, labeling, warehousing, order fulfillment, and shipping must be able to keep up with demand,” said Jerry Warner, president of CooperVision. “Our West Henrietta site is one of the most technologically advanced distribution centers of its kind, and the Scottsville facility is a jewel in our global network of production sites. With the latest investments in these areas of our business, we are further enhancing our industry-leading customer service reputation, ensuring the timely delivery of CooperVision contact lenses for eye care professionals and their patients.”

The Scottsville operation has achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification, and the company plans to seek the certification at West Henrietta as part of the expansion. Currently, all the company’s facilities in New York are powered by 100 percent renewable energy.

The West Henrietta project will be complete by summer 2023, while the Scottsville project will be operational by the end of next year.
