CooperVision Now Accepting Applications for 2021 Best Practices Scholarship Program

(PRESS RELEASE) SAN RAMON, CA — In support of the education of future eye care professionals, CooperVision, Inc. announced today its 2021 Best Practices Student Scholarship Program. The scholarship—established last year—is offered to outstanding third-year optometry students as part of the company’s Best Practicesinitiative, which recognizes practices that advance the optometry profession through innovation, leadership, and the delivery of exceptional patient care.

Each year, three scholarship recipients receive an all-expenses paid trip to the Best Practices Summit, a two-day educational event during which they meet and collaborate with the Best Practices honorees.

“Over the last five years, our Best Practices honorees have repeatedly touted the collaboration with their peers as one of the most significant benefits of the program. For optometry students, hearing from eye care professionals who have attained this level of success can be pivotal to the start of their careers,” said Michele Andrews, OD, vice president, professional and government affairs, Americas, CooperVision. “In last year’s applications, we heard from so many bright, passionate students who are eager to transform the future of optometry and can’t wait to see what this year has in store. We look forward to inspiring a new generation of optometrists.”

Scholarship applicants must be third-year optometry students currently in good academic standing at a U.S. optometry school who demonstrate leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, and work experience. Applicants must also be able to attend the Best Practices Summit in Rochester, N.Y. on April 18-20, 2021.

The 2021 Best Practices Summit is expected to include both the 2020 and 2021 Best Practices honorees, as well as the 2020 scholarship recipients, effectively expanding the networking and collaboration opportunities that will be available to this year’s recipients.

Applications will be accepted through January 8, 2020. Interested students must submit a current resume and a one-minute video explaining their goals to one day impact the field of optometry and discuss how attending the Best Practices Summit can help. Scholarship recipients will be announced in March 2021.
