Eyewear Company Prides Itself on US Production

The company has 50 employees.

State Optical Co. in Chicago is making a priority of producing its frames in the U.S., CNN Money reports.

“Everyone told us it couldn’t be done,” said Scott Shapiro, founder of the company.

But with State Optical, whose frames became available at retail a year ago, he’s proving them wrong.

The company has 50 employees, and its products are “now selling in over 500 optical stores nationwide,” according to CNN Money.

The frames go for $300 to $350.

Shapiro told the news outlet that most people who buy the company’s frames have never before owned eyewear produced in the U.S.
