Hot Sellers: Summer 2015 (Online-Only)

about this feature: Each month, we ask INVISION’s Brain Squad what’s selling in their optical shops and dispensaries. Here’s what people say is selling well this summer. Join the Brain Squad to report your hot sellers each month (and get access to way more sales data and intelligence than we can fit in the magazine).

Independent is new in the Aspire line from ClearVision Optical.

Aspire from ClearVision is an upstart. Basically a zyl frame similar in look to a Mykita. In sunglasses, Maui Jim, baby! Made the investment in the 50-piece tower and sales shot up, especially in the Rx end.— Kevin Count, Corner Optical, Glenview, IL

Lightec by Morel. We love the bright fun colors in a very lightweight frame! Dr. Tina Smrkovski, Reed Optical, Claremont, NH

Tom’s eyewear – new product. Selling fantastic. Cool designs, great price point, good message with buy one, give one. Salt Life sunglasses: User friendly, can be used with insurance, great new product for our office. Brenda Powers, Wilson Eye Center, Valdosta, GA

Lafont and l.a. Eyeworks. Fabulous styles, color, and the look people currently want. Dorothy Reynolds, Optical Alternatives, Milford, CT

We had a rock ’n’ roll themed trunk show with Ray-Ban and John Varvatos so those both sold very well. Monique Begin, Burke McLoughlin Eye Associates, Avon, CT

Couldn’t keep Tiffany on the shelf. Sometimes you just shrug your shoulders and say, “Why did that frame sell so well this month?” Dr. Scott Keating, Vision Trends, Dover, OH

Lilly Pulitzer was our top for this month!! So many new fun shapes and colors and our rep (Jim Berilla) is awesome! Sandy Freise, The Optical Shop, St. Charles, MO

Ray-Ban, Coach and Tory Burch. The Tory Burch line was brought in less than two months ago and we’ve already had to put in three stock orders! The brand appeals to a wide range of our target demographic. For Tory Burch sunglasses, we are doing a 25 percent off promotion if people mention the banner ad on our website (mobile and desktop versions). Josh Bladh, Dr. Taylor Bladh, Diamond Bar, CA

Lafont Hit Parade. There are so many different colors offered for this particular frame and it looks good on everyone! It’s definitely one of our top sellers. Kristen Atkins, Clinton Family Eye Care, Clinton, NJ

Silhouette rimless made with Chemistrie custom clips have suddenly picked up. Also Jimmy Choo and Gucci for women. Men are still loving Ray-Ban and Lightec. We just put in some new styles for Maui Jim and are currently running a big sunglass sale that started on National Sunglass Day ending July 31. Susan Kantor, Central Phoenix Eyecare, Phoenix, AZ

The Coach 6040 is HOT in ALL colors! We can never keep it on the board! Jade Kowalick, Bright Eyes, Tampa, FL

Model HC 8143 from Coach has the brand’s “signature spray” detail on the temples.

Ray-Ban as always (with the Wayfarer No. 1 in sunglasses). Saw a Coach upswing since they’ve come out with newer designs. Kathy Maren, Combs EyeCare & EyeWear, Western Springs, IL

The new Etnia is great! Colors and styles are so fresh and wearable. For sunglasses, the new Barton Perreiras are awesome. Paula Hornbeck, Eye Candy, Delafield, WI

For women, Lilly Pulitzer’s Lockwood provides our patients with comfort and style. The variety of colors plays second only to the frame’s comfort. Women love the new Oakley Given in rose gold with VR50 lens combination. I never thought I’d see Oakley become a front runner for our women’s sun collection, but they’ve done their homework. The newest additions are a huge success. We can’t keep enough Costa Brine selections around. Men know and love this frame in our area. Dr. Blake Hutto, Family Vision Care, Alma, GA

Our sunwear sales tend to lag, so we worked on showing patients sunglasses regardless as a bonus and we have had more hits. We have had the most interest in the new Oliver Peoples and Etnia Barcelona collections. Dr. Tanya Gill, Oakland Vision Center Optometry, Oakland, CA

This June was a counterpoint to the rest of the year, which was busy like before the 2008 economic collapse. Most of our sales were for the less expensive brands like Guess or Nine West. In June we sold very few of the bigger designers like Tiffany and Tom Ford. Daniel Amyx, Hilmoor Optical, Port St. Lucie, FL

Cutler & Gross 1164 and 1094. In sunglasses, Kate Spade Shira. Ladies love the glitter! Dr. Sarah Jerome, Look + See Eye Care, Minneapolis, MN
