Johnny Was Partners With Eponym to Launch First Eyewear Collection

Johnny Was is known for Boho-luxe and vintage style.

(Press Release) NEW YORK, NY – Johnny Was, a contemporary women’s brand known for its Boho-luxe and vintage style, has entered into a multi-year agreement with eyewear platform eponym to design, produce and distribute the brand’s first eyewear and sunglass collection.

Under the agreement, eponym’s in-house design team will closely collaborate with the creative team at Johnny Was on the Johnny Was Eyewear collection, and eponym will distribute sunglasses and prescription optical directly to customers and in wholesale channels.

Rob Trauber, CEO of Johnny Was, sought out the partnership with eponym because “eponym is taking a modern approach to developing and marketing eyewear, which we believe will help to ensure a compelling product offering for our customers.”

“We are confident in their ability to translate our brand’s unique DNA into amazing eyewear, and achieve high product quality standards and a world class integrated customer experience,” Trauber said.

Andrew Lipovsky, founder and CEO of eponym, said: “We love working with brands that have a distinctive point-of-view and loyal customer base, so we’re excited to partner with Johnny Was to create a special collection of eyewear.”

The partnership with Johnny Was further solidifies eponym’s status as the go-to licensing partner for growing brands that seek to expand into eyewear, including alice + olivia, Billy Reid, Jason Wu, Steven Alan and others. Eponym’s innovative digital platform enables brands to design and distribute prescription glasses, sunglasses and readers directly to their customers, under their own label, online, and in their stores. Eponym also manages all product fulfillment, customer service and CRM, and invests in advertising to help grow each partner brand’s market share.

The Johnny Was Eyewear collection will include design details inspired by the contemporary silhouettes and rich colors of Johnny Was apparel, including the signature prints and patterns loved by customers. The collection will be available in all Johnny Was retail shops and select department stores and boutiques.
