J&J Vision Names Leader for Eye Health Advocacy Efforts

(PRESS RELEASE) JACKSONVILLE, FL – Johnson & Johnson Vision has appointed Michael Mayers, OD, FAAO, to the role of director, U.S. advocacy, vision care. In his new role, Mayers will shape strategy and lead eye health advocacy efforts to promote patient health and safety in collaboration with legislators, regulators, associations and doctors.

Mayers will also partner with Carol Alexander, OD, FAAO, director of professional communication, to continue driving Johnson & Johnson Vision’s advocacy efforts with the eye health professional community.

“In the last two years, we’ve been privileged to join alongside thousands of health advocates in sharing our voices on Capitol Hill, in state houses, with regulators and with the eye health community, and we have so much more to do,” said Peter Menziuso, president, North America, vision care, for Johnson & Johnson Vision. “We are thrilled that Dr. Mayers is joining our advocacy team, bringing his expertise and passion for eye health to further this important work.” 

Mayers joined Johnson & Johnson Vision in 2011, and has since held roles in R&D clinical development, global medical affairs and global marketing. Prior to joining the company, Mayers practiced in several eye heath settings, including in his own optometric practice, and consulted as a key opinion leader with several eye health companies.

Mayers is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Optometry. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), and the Contact Lens and Cornea Section within the AOA.

Mayers, Alexander and Menziuso represent Johnson & Johnson Vision through its operating company, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Inc.
