LaramyK Buys Optician Training Site OpticianWorks.com

(Press Release)
LaramyK Optical has acquired 100 percent interest in the optician training website OpticianWorks.com, the purpose of which is to help opticians “earn more, be happier, and make a difference.”

Coinciding with the merger announcement is the release of a new website that brings a higher level of interactivity and additional training material. New features on the site include progress tracking, certificates of completion, and a new ABO exam study book available via a free membership option. Full membership to the site is available as a benefit for LaramyK lab customers. The website will continue to operate as OpticianWorks.com.

John Seegers, the creator of Opticianworks.com, has been retained by LaramyK as director of education. He will continue operating and writing for OpticianWorks along with Keith Benjamin, director of marketing for LaramyK.

“We have always been committed to providing the best online education. We saw what John had done with OpticianWorks and knew that we could work together to bring optician training to a higher level and offer it as a service to our customers, as well as opticians throughout the industry,” says Janet Benjamin, president of LaramyK.

John Seegers, director of education for LaramyK says, “OpticianWorks was always about trying to offer a toptier, online education for opticians. I was struggling to make that dream a reality doing everything on my own. Having the shared vision and resources of an organization like LaramyK was just what I was looking for.”

LaramyK Optical is a wholesale lab established in 1989 in Indianola, IA and is a leader in the use of freeform technology. The company offers a complete range of uncut surfaced lenses and AR coatings, serving all industries. It has 29 employees.

OpticianWorks, established in 2008, is the first 100 percent webbased education portal for optician education. Training courses include optics, anatomy, optical products, sales and business management and finishing.

OpticianWorks will be based in LaramyK’s satellite office in Dawsonville, GA.
