Massachusetts Eyeglass Maker Stresses “Made in the USA” Traditions

ABC News salutes Randolph Engineering for bucking a trend.

ABC News gave serious props last week to Massachusetts eyewear manufacturer Randolph Engineering, whose sunglasses have been used for nearly 40 years by Air Force fighter pilots and more recently by Don Draper of “Mad Men.” The company was cited for its insistence of doing all its manufacturing in the U.S. Just 3 percent of all sunglasses sold here are domestic products, says company CEO Peter Waszkiewicz, son of the founder. But “the whole ‘made in the USA’ movement is growing,” Waszkiewicz told ABC News. “We’re on the forefront of bringing optical manufacturing back to this country.”
