MyEyeDr. Celebrates Month of Giving with Students at Pine Shadows Elementary School

(PRESS RELEASE) In continuation of their commitment to giving back to the greater Houston community, MyEyeDr., the nation’s premier vision healthcare provider, donated 70 pairs of glasses to students at Pine Shadows Elementary School, in partnership with Davis Vision.

The donation event, held on December 5, comes after MyEyeDr. began their work with the elementary school earlier this fall, surprising the students in September with a visit from NBA All-Star, Shaquille O’Neal, to encourage each student to engage in the classroom and showcase their confidence. In the following month, MyEyeDr. returned to the campus, providing free vision screenings to those who qualified. Any student requiring further examination was also provided a comprehensive evaluation and the opportunity to choose their new prescription eyeglasses with MyEyeDr.

“Our eyes are one of the most important parts of our bodies, helping us see friends and family, read, play sports and learn in the classroom,” said Dr. Emmanuella Okocha, Regional Clinical Director, MyEyeDr. “We take seeing clearly seriously at MyEyeDr. and make it our priority to ensure those in the local community have access to quality vision care to prevent, screen for and treat any necessary vision problems. With our partners at Davis Vision, the students at Pine Shadows Elementary School are now ready to take on the rest of the school year, vision-distraction free!”
