It’s located at the at the NECO Center for Eye Care Commonwealth.

(Press Release) New England College of Optometry (NECO) announces the opening of the new Myopia Control Clinic at the NECO Center for Eye Care Commonwealth. The NECO Center for Eye Care encompasses two comprehensive vision centers that are owned and operated by the college. They provide services to individuals at all stages of life, including new treatments for myopia.

New England College of Optometry has been a leader in myopia research for over 20 years. The Myopia Control Clinic allows our clinical faculty and eye doctors to apply the latest findings in myopia research to new treatments for nearsighted children and young adults.

As instances of myopia (nearsightedness) continue to rise, the Myopia Control Clinic offers several research-based treatments for slowing myopia. Treatments include specially designed glasses and contact lenses, as well as eye drops.

Fuensanta Vera-Diaz, OD, PhD, FAAO, one of the MCC eyecare providers, explains, “At NECO Center for Eye Care, we strive to practice evidence-based eye care. We understand the importance of rigorous measurements with new technology. As both a clinician and a scientist who has dedicated her professional career to myopia, I am excited about applying the latest scientific evidence to treatments for controlling myopia in our patients.”

For more information and scheduling appointments, interested patients and their parents should contact clinical coordinator Barbara Gamble at 617-262-2020 (select option 6 when the message starts) or email myopiacontrol@neco.edu. Learn more about the new Myopia Control Clinic.
