Kering and Zeiss Develop Sustainable Sunlenses

After years of collaboration, Kering Eyewear and ZEISS Sunlens have improved the carbon footprint of sunglass manufacturing through the development of more eco-friendly manufactured lenses. Already certified by REDCert, a certification system accredited by the European Commission, the newly developed sun lenses entail a significant part of bio-based material. The new material will gradually be introduced into Kering Eyewear FW21 sun collections across all brands in the portfolio. zeiss.com/vision-news

Customers Want Sustainable Options

A survey commissioned by CooperVision, Inc. is shedding light on the value of providing patients sustainable CL options. The online poll conducted by Decision Analyst queried over 200 U.S. residents 16 to 35 years old who require vision correction and are considering CL wear in the next six to eight months to determine how the concept of net plastic neutrality might influence their decisions. It showed that the planet’s health is playing an important role in patient decisions—including whether to wear CLs. In fact, 83% of respondents agreed their interest in trying contacts would somewhat or significantly rise if a plastic neutral lens was an option.
