Time Is Running Out for ECPs to Provide Input to Contact Lens Health & Safety Program

(PRESS RELEASE)IWASHINGTON, DC — There are only a few days left for U.S. eye care professionals (ECPs) to provide input that will help shape an initiative of the Contact Lens Institute (CLI) to promote healthy contact lens wear and care habits. Optometrists, ophthalmologists, opticians, technicians and staff from offices that fit lenses are encouraged to take a 12-question, three-minute survey here. The survey has been extended to Sept. 11.

CLI announced last month plans to launch a sustained initiative this fall to help ECPs advance healthy contact lens wear, their practices and the profession.

“Encouraging healthy contact lens wear and care is a year-round effort, and eye care professionals across the country share that commitment,” said Dr. Rick Weisbarth, board chairman of the Contact Lens Institute. “Many of the 45 million Americans who enjoy the benefits of contact lenses do their best to follow good practices. Yet we know there are always opportunities to reinforce even better behaviors. The CLI program will provide ECPs with compelling tools to help facilitate health and safety conversations with current and new wearers.”

CLI expects to share additional details about the initiative in the coming weeks.

The Contact Lens Institute advances the latest innovations in safe and effective contact lens and lens care products and services that provide unique benefits to patients while satisfying the evolving needs of eye care professionals. CLI undertakes activities that properly assess, enhance, promote and balance contact lens and lens care industry welfare and growth, including the safe use of products in the marketplace. Its members include Alcon, Bausch + Lomb, CooperVision, and Johnson & Johnson Vision. For more information, visit contactlensinstitute.org.
