Vision Screening App for Kids Gets $6M Investment

GoCheck, which has developed a mobile vision-screening app for children, has received $6 million in a Series B investment round.

The app helps screen for amblyopia, the Nashville Post reports. The new capital will go toward additional technology, such as artificial intelligence integration.

The round was led by FCA Venture Partners. Other investors included Mucker Capital and Sovereign’s Capital. Previous investors included Interwest Partners and Marc Benioff, founder of Salesforce.

“Amblyopia is a large U.S. public health crisis that doesn’t get enough press,” said Matthew King, managing partner of FCA, according to the Post.

“With its innovative solution and a growing number of hospital system customers, GoCheck is primed to solve this crisis.”

MobiHealthNews reports that the technology is used, at present, by over 4,500 pediatric teams in the U.S. and Europe.

“Instrument-based vision screening has proven effective in identifying vision issues in children, however, it is cost-prohibitive for many pediatricians,” said Dr. David Huang, cofounder and CIO of GoCheck, according to MobiHealthNews.

“We are changing this dynamic by bringing pediatric vision screening into the digital age.”
