VSP Global Distributes Free Protective Face Shields

(PRESS RELEASE) RANCHO CORDOVA, CA – In an effort to provide ongoing support to VSP network doctors during the COVID-19 pandemic, VSP Global has leveraged its alternative manufacturing capabilities to design, manufacture and distribute protective face shields free of charge to its network eye doctors. The VSP Face Shield is part of an initiative to provide VSP network doctors with access to personal protective equipment (PPE) and other relevant resources as they serve essential eye care needs.

“In this COVID-19 environment, there are incredible stories of VSP network doctors continuing to provide essential and emergency eye care, which has helped keep our members from visiting emergency rooms and hospitals during this impacted time on our healthcare system,” said Michael Guyette, president and CEO of VSP Global. “Providing access to our face shield and PPE is critical to support the ongoing delivery of eye care and safeguard the health of network doctors, their staff, and patients.”

The VSP Face Shield is designed to provide full-face coverage and be comfortable when worn for extended periods. It fits over eyewear or a face mask, and flexes to adapt to the unique contours of the wearer. It can be easily disassembled and sanitized for re-use.

VSP has also helped connect network doctors to PPE suppliers, as well as training resources and best practices on the critical topic.

“As VSP network doctors prepare to reopen their practices as restrictions are lifted, we remain committed to supporting them today, tomorrow, and into the future,” added Guyette.
