Celebrity Customers Spark Eyewear Fashion Trends

Rihanna probably made mirrored-sunglasses fashionable.

The current popularity of mirrored sunglasses provides further evidence of the impact that a celebrity customer can have on sales. The trend, which gained traction shielding the eyes of the rich and famous at this year’s Coachella music festival, probably began more than a year earlier, when Rihanna attended the Paris fashion shows in Dior’s So Real shades – still one of the brand’s top sellers. For those on the hunt for the next celebrity eyewear trend, Lady Gaga showed up in New York City last week in over-sized reflective sunglasses with lenses painted to look like giant cartoon eyes.
